LONDON — While Spain prepares for El Clásico, the English football universe will converge on north London on Sunday for a seismic Premier League title collision as 3rd-placed Arsenal host league leaders Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta conducted an intense Friday morning press conference at London Colney, fielding urgent questions about the fitness of star winger Bukayo Saka and defender Jurrien Timber, both of whom missed Tuesday’s 1–0 Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk.

"Bukayo has done a bit of training on the grass, but we will assess him tomorrow before making a final decision," Arteta revealed. "Timber is in a similar position. He has been out for a while and we need to see how he reacts to the physical workload. Riccardo Calafiori will undergo further tests after feeling something in his knee."

With talismanic center-back William Saliba serving a one-match suspension following his red card against Bournemouth, Arteta must reconfigure his central defense, potentially pairing Gabriel Magalhães with Ben White or dropping Thomas Partey into defense.

In Merseyside, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot spoke with supreme confidence following the Reds’ 1–0 away victory at RB Leipzig, which marked their 11th win in 12 matches this season.

"Going to the Emirates is one of the toughest tests in world football," Slot acknowledged. "Arsenal are extraordinarily disciplined at set-pieces and press with tremendous ferocity. But we are in a very good moment. We defend well as a team, we have Darwin and Mo in form, and we want to show that we can compete at the highest level away from home."

Liverpool enter Sunday with a one-point lead over Manchester City and a four-point advantage over Arsenal. A win for the Reds would strike an emphatic psychological blow in the title race.
