MUNICH — Any talk of a scoring drought for Harry Kane was comprehensively dismantled at the Allianz Arena on Saturday evening, as the England captain struck three times in 23 blistering second-half minutes to steer Bayern Munich to an emphatic 4–0 victory over VfB Stuttgart.
Following a tightly contested opening 45 minutes, Kane exploded into life in the 57th minute. Receiving a pass from Joshua Kimmich 30 yards out, Kane took one touch out of his feet and unleashed a swerving, ferocious strike that beat Alexander Nübel into the bottom corner.
Three minutes later, Kane exhibited pure penalty-box predatory instinct, battling through three Stuttgart defenders before chipping the ball home while off-balance. In the 80th minute, he completed his sixth Bayern hat-trick by pouncing on a rebound from João Palhinha’s deflected shot.
Kingsley Coman added a fourth late on, ensuring Vincent Kompany’s side reclaimed top spot in the Bundesliga ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference, having scored 24 goals in seven league fixtures.
The focus now pivots directly to Wednesday night’s mouth-watering Champions League trip to Barcelona, where Kompany will match tactical wits against former Bayern treble-winning manager Hansi Flick.
"Harry showed once again why he is the best complete striker on the planet," Kompany stated in Munich. "He doesn’t merely score goals; he drops deep, connects our attacking transitions, and defends set pieces. Against Barcelona, we will need that complete performance from our entire collective."
With both Bayern and Barcelona in devastating domestic form, Wednesday’s clash at Montjuïc promises to be the defining spectacle of European Matchday 3.
